Do you object to forms which ask your race? I was told that black people object even more than white is true?

Yes, I do object. I am happy and proud to be British, but I wonder why they ask this question so often? It bothers me that they could use it to discriminate against us and give jobs and services to foreigners. We all know how this government likes to favour immigrants.Do you object to forms which ask your race? I was told that black people object even more than white is true?
yes,i object and i'm white.

why is someone's race so relevant when filling out a form and how is it useful statistically?

if you are proud of your racial origins and don't object to answering, fair play but i would like to see a ';not prepared to answer'; option.

until society and it's institutions stop putting people into pigeonholes (race, religion, orientation etc) and start seeing us all as individual and EQUAL,segregation and bigotry will never die.Do you object to forms which ask your race? I was told that black people object even more than white is true?
I don't object. I just don't offer answers.

I am mixed race which is no race in any conventional sense. I fail to see why I should be any more specific than that.

I would have been seriously angry if I ever got a job or perk because I was considered black and became part of some revolting racial quota system. I would sooner not get a job or whatever than take one from a white person just because they were white and I was regarded as black.

That is why I NEVER fill out those ethnicity forms or offer any clue whatsoever about what colour my skin is.

It really shouldn't matter.
I object if there is a breakdown of every race (I.e. ';Black Caribbean, Black African, Black Other, Asian Indian, Asian Pakistani, Chinese, Mixed race'; etc) but only one box for ';White'; - why is that???

Why not ';White english, white welsh, White European, White Eastern European'; etc)?

Its like there is usually a quota for everyone else but not for whites, no matter what they are?

Doesn't seem fair to me..
i don't object to them asking. i do object to when i see indians, pakistanis, bangladeshis all get a separate box to tick, and then black people get one 'afro-caribbean' regardless of where you come from. and if you're mixed race... well, you never know which box to tick... dilemmas dilemmas...
I can't understand why anyone would object to this question as it does not necessarily refer to the colour of your skin. American, British, French and so on are all races and would include a multitude of skin colours. I certainly don't object in the slightest to answering the question.
First of all, this is more like a blanket question rather than a ';black'; question. This applies to a lot of minorities. I know I don't do it (I am Mexican), but I can understand why people do. They feel like it will influence the way their form is viewed. And it might be sad, but it does.
Normally the question is voluntary and is for statistical purposes only. I am not offended, but then I am white. I couldn't answer for a person of color.
Part of my job is to fill in one of those forms. About 5% of my clients are not white british, and only one person has ever objected. He was west african I think. So in my case, yes.
I can't answer for others, but I've wonder why some surveys ask your race, or job applications(some of them). Either way I've been working my job for 3 years.
I wish they'd either take that question off, or delete all the options and instead put ';human'; or ';alien.';
Yea my friend is black and don't like it either. Its like they have to track everyone down. My friend just checks other.
i always reject! how can this world become equal if they are always doing polls on what percentage of so and so race is doing whatever...
I always wondered why they ask that.
I think it is sort of archaic, but still practical.....you shudn't be ashamed to tick off your race on a form though.
I object if my section is placed last. I am white British.
no, not really.
shh...
i guess.
yeh. it annoys me
