i hate pancakes but my boyfriend loves themI've heard that if mold forms in pancake mix it could be fatal. Is IT TRUE ?
Yes, it's true. The cases that I read about were both involving specific allergies pertaining to food molds. Both people went into anaphylactic shock. To be safe, always read the expiration date on food containers of any kind before making something.I've heard that if mold forms in pancake mix it could be fatal. Is IT TRUE ?
Just to be safe and smart don't eat on serve moldy food. Only exception is cheese. Pancakes are super simple to make from scratch so I haven't bought pancake mix in 10 years.
Recipe copied from Food Network .com
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1 1/4 cups milk, at room temperature
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 tablespoons melted butter or oil
Mix dry ingredients in one bowl
Mix wet ingredient in another then pour into flour mixture. Mix until right consistancy and prepare as usual.
If you are using ingredients you have around anyway and use frequently you will never have to worry, ';How long has that box of Bisquick been sitting in the back of the pantry?';
Yes, in rare cases there have been fatalities....the sickness from it should you survive is no picnic, either....If your mix is out of date 6 mos. or more, THROW IT AWAY!! It's too inexpensive to risk your health on!
Mold forming in any kind of food can be fatal, depending on the food and mold itself. It's best not to eat moldy food, no matter what it is.
