Is it true that Catholics don't believe in using condoms or other artificial forms of birth control?

Depends on the Catholic, and how willing they are to let superstitious nonsense completely ruin their lives. Is it true that Catholics don't believe in using condoms or other artificial forms of birth control?
While it is the 'official teaching' of the Catholic Church, the majority of American Catholics believe in some form of birth control and many use condoms or such on a regular basis. The old fashioned idea that sex is only for procreation is not in 'vogue' much any more. I think many American Catholics are coming to the realization that many of the 'laws' of the Church are outdated. This does not mean they believe in sex outside of marriage, but they also know that condoms, especially, do more than stop pregnancy, but also protect against AIDS and other STDs. More and more Catholic couples also wish to wait to have children and so employ some method of artificial birth control. Many also think that expecting non-Catholics, such as those in Africa who suffer greatly from AIDS, to resist sex before marriage is uncalled for and do not agree with the papal condemnation of all forms of birth control no matter what the belief of the person or the situation. Is it true that Catholics don't believe in using condoms or other artificial forms of birth control?
Yeah - it's true. But for some reason they seem to think the withdrawal method's ok but anal sex or masturbation are wrong...I don't get that - that smacks of hypocrisy.

I am really looking into becoming a RC but this is a stumbling block for me because I don't see the logic.

If the point of a marriage is to procreate and anything that gets in the way of conception is WRONG - then even abstention must be a sin!!?
Hello,

I would say the majority disagree with that particular teaching and follow their own consciences accordingly. As for sex outside of marriage, a serious sin is a serious sin so throwing on the condom makes no difference in the light of things.

Cheers,

We believe in sex after marriage only.

The Church teaches that God made sex for the procreation of more Christians.

The reasoning is that if you use condoms you won't worry about having sex and you'll just have sex more and more.
The Roman Catholic church teaches that artificial contraception of any kind is a positive evil.....no exceptions.
Yes, that is the infallible binding teaching of God's Holy Church, to which He said ';whatsoever you bind upon earth is bound in heaven';, and ';he who hears you hears Me';.
Bareback is alot more fun
Yes. It cuts off the possibility of life, which is a blessing from God.
