Should true Democrats form our own party?

These Obama groupies and moveon.org types have hijacked our party, forcing losing far left wing limosine latte liberals down our necks. Hillary has the most primary votes of anyone in history. Isn't this the perfect time for real Democrats to form a third party with Hillary as our nominee?Should true Democrats form our own party?
I think so. Ideally, they should give up the name since they are socialists and not even for having a Democracy.

What could the new name be?

I think some folks in New York have discussed beginning a third party. People should unite around this and have some serious discussion.Should true Democrats form our own party?
Let's evaluate the statement ';Hillary has the most primary votes';

The math to get there throws out ALL CAUCUS states (so she's disenfranchising those ';voters';, JUST LIKE she's saying the party does to MI and FL - sorry they don't vote, but they play by their rules).

Some of those voters voted for her to prolong the primary (Limbaugh's ';operation chaos';, as it were) - 15-20% of the voter's in Indiana that voted FOR HILLARY acknowledged in exit polls that they would vote McCain in the GE, regardless of the dem candidate.

And, on a final note, in FOLLOWING THE RULES (which Hillary wants to CHANGE until she wins), Obama took his name off the MI ticket - in order to have her ';having the most primary votes in history';, you need to count her votes in Michigan and not give him ANY of the undecided, which was effectively a vote for him.

And her ';ability to win big states'; is garbage also - either dem will win NY and CA. WV is worthless, b/c McCain will win it. ALL THESE STATES mean nothing.

So according to this, Hillary has the most primary votes by DISENFRANCHISING THE CAUCUS STATES, WINNING A STATE WITHOUT A COMPETITOR, and getting REPUBLICANS that support an internal war in the Dem party to vote for her.

Form another party - give the nomination to McCain if you want. But don't say you're the real Democrats, b/c you're not the majority of the party, which, if you support democracy (see what I did there?) dictates who the candidate should be.

Edit: and to the person who commented about ';crying racism at every turn'; - who's crying ';sexism'; right now? Why is one forgivable?
Our Libertarian party was formed because of disenchantment with the liberal leanings of the repubies. By all means you should form a distinct party separate of the demmies if you believe your values are being comprimised by the demmie big shots. I mean the GOP big shots sold the repubies values down the tubes, so the demmies are vulnerable to this abuse from their big shots also.

Unfortunately, there is a socialist party of America already in existence. If you think the demmie party has moved to far left %26amp; are more concerned about your diminishing personal freedoms, you may want a more constitutionally based party. Check into ANY of the constitutional parties on deck at current, it might be what your looking for.

Good luck!
I voted Clinton, although Richardson was my first choice. I am happy to vote for Obama over McCain. The party wasn't hijacked. There was a primary and different factions of the party voted for different candidates. Ultimately, the differences between Obama and Clinton on policy are minor and the differences between Obama and McCain on policy are vast. Also, I give an Obama/Clinton ticket about a 50/50 shot. She could have had a better shot if she played her cards better. She could have been the top of the ticket with a few strategy changes in January, like not ignoring the caucus states, no matter how silly their election contests may be.

The problem with electoral system we use, unlike the parlimentary style used in most democracies, is that it forces us into a two party system. Any two simlar parties divide the electorate and allow the less popular candidate who is diametrically opposed to the third party to prevail, like Nixon in 1968 after the assassination of RFK and the riots at the DNC convention. I don't want to see McCain win the way Nixon did.

The last successful 3rd party was the Lincoln republicans, united around a single issue so divisive it caused the civil war. That's the kind of thing that sparks a third party. There have been several major attempts, most notably the no-nothings, who wanted to switch from the gold standard to the silver and gold standard. They failed to acheive their objectives.

Personally, I'm hoping the republicans and the libertarians divide the social and fiscal conservatives, fracturing the republican party, but I fear the libertarians will divide the social and fiscal liberals. Its not a consistent position to be socially liberal and fiscally conservative, as a fiscally conservative government can't act in a socially liberal manner, regardless of the social beliefs of the politicians in charge.

If you want to effect change in your party, get invovled at the party level. It isn't that hard to become a superdelegate and have a voice on the committees that decide party policy and party and party platform. Contact your local democratic party to ask how to get involved.
You MUST be kidding. You Americans don't have the faintest notion what left wing really means. Your Democrats are as much in bed with big business as the Republicans. At the absolute utmost they are social democrats but I'd describe them more as Christian democrats, to the right of centre of the broad political spectrum.

How about forming a GENUINE socialist party over there and giving your ';poor and huddled masses'; a real voice for a change?

Anyway, it would be too late this time around. You lot will never be progressive enough to stomach a woman or a coffee-coloured man running your country, so I'm afraid a win for McSame is pretty much guaranteed.
I am with you 100%

After the fiasco with the DNC over Fla. and Mi. I am leaving the party anyway (actually they left me) I am tearing my card in half, writing Fla on one half, and Mi. on the other, and mailing it back to the DNC.

This contest has not divided the party, the DNC did!

If HIllary would consider that, she would so win!

The dems had a free shot at getting the whitehouse, and they are blowing it!
NO! let's take back OUR party, and let the Daily Kos/Puff Ho types do their thing as the 'social democrat' party...the chardonnay swilling birkenstockers can play with their heroes like obama, jane fonda, cindy sheehan, michael moore, bill ayers, sharpton, farrakhan, donna brazille...and leave the rest of us in peace
I'd go further than that and say that the party has been hijacked by Stalinists.

It's the same thing as the Religious Right hijacking the Republican Party.

Same s***, different party ...
i don't think it would work but i agree with most of what you said..the democrat party could have done a lot better then pander to a candidate like BO
Yes, I no longer feel part of the party usurped by the latte-sipping leftists who cry racism at every turn
It's the best way to protect democracy and the United States of America.
