Does this sound like a McDojo?
ThanksIs this the true tradition form of training in Chinese martial arts?
To many variances in Traditional CMA. You need to clarify the style as some hve no combat aspect at all. Health ( Yang Style Tai Chi ), and physical benefits other than combat are also a main stream of some CMA%26gt; Some have pure wrestling combat to them like Shuai Chaou, some have stand up boxing skills like Chuan Fa, some exotic like Snake or Monkey, and some are esoteric in nature.
You cannot easily classify CMA by simply calling it CMA.Is this the true tradition form of training in Chinese martial arts?
belts or no belts, it doesnt matter but degrading another person or style is not right. therefore i call them unprooffesional and if uve given me more details maybe a mcdojo. the reason they degraded bruce lee was to show superiority. ive learned CMA with belts and without belts though there was a reason for the belts, it actually shows the amount of knowledge u know in a real life situation, not just a form.
Sparring- in my opinion many people cannot handle sparring (ive suffered many injuries from a paralyzed back to losing circulation and even a permanently damaged shin. sparring is important to real life situations (even the small ones i experience in school). i woulddnt consider something a real martial art without knowing the timing and control of power needed in real life.
If someone was to prove with hard evidence that bruce lee was fake, he still is the reason so many great fighters exist in the world. the power to give moral and courage is stronger than anything else.
Not at all. Sounds like my school and my teacher. Chinese MA don't uses belts for rank, but there is rank. We never ';free spar'; because it teaches bad habits, but we do somethings similar that is more controlled.
Bruce Lee had five years of training before he came to the states and eventually started his own style. Most experienced martial artists believe that you are a beginner for the first ten years of your training.
Typically people refer to a school that just signs up anyone, sometimes for a contractual time frame, and doesn't offer quality instruction as McDojos. Usually a quality school will offer a trial period. This gives you a chance to try the school and to the head instructor a chance to see if you are teachable. Many of the best schools do not require a contract, since the knowledge learned keeps you coming back. If you decide its not for you, at least you don't keep paying after you stop going.
What part of the world are you in and is this your first martial art?
No sparring? That's nonsense. Sparring is a great exercise and if taught right, able to teach how to properly execute techniques. It also increases your reflexes and gives you a taste of hitting and being hit.
No sparring is not the true traditional form of Chinese martial arts. If you could supply a website, we might be able to tell if it's a McDojo or not.
Ooh! I like that instructor!
Except that they do no sparring.
On the other hand, I don't teach sparring as you know it.
I teach real attack and defense. No winners and no losers... Just see how well you grasped what I teach.
What he said about Bruce Lee is true. Most people are fixated with him and he was nothing.
What school was this?
